Following the policies of good environmental practices initiated in 2018 with the installation of a 100 kW photovoltaic plant (which produces approximately 80% of the total photovoltaic energy generated in Sant Boi de Llobregat), in 2019, NAEKO continued to allocate resources to the reduction of its environmental impact, reducing CO2 emissions derived from its activity as a first step.

The facilities of Sant Boi (HQ) and ZAL I (Bering, Àrtic I and Àrtic II) have marked the beginning of the gradual replacement of the lighting system, with the latest-generation “LED” lights. The project also involves the installation of motion sensors with the goal adapting power to operational needs, also avoiding unnecessary use of resources.

With all this, and despite a considerable increase in activity, NAEKO has managed to reduce consumption of kW by approximately 36%, which has resulted in ending the emission of 111.75 tonnes of CO² into the atmosphere.

Equating the reduction of emissions to a pine forest (because the pine tree is the tree with the highest absorption capacity of CO²), to absorb the amount of CO² that NAEKO has managed to stop emitting into the atmosphere, we would need a forest with more than 1,000 pines
